DEVELOPMENT OF A BUSINESS MODEL FOR A MULTI-PURPOSE FISHING LAUNCH TO ENABLE DEPLOYMENT IN OFFSHORE FISHING AREAS

DESCRIPTION OF MISSIOn

L’association COPEM réunit un collectif de marins pêcheurs. Representative of the entire territory of Martinique, with the slogan “Modernisons pour une pêche durable et responsable” (“Let’s modernize for sustainable and responsible fishing”). Since its creation, the association has been working in particular on the development of an innovative fishing vessel, aimed at meeting the challenges facing the industry.

The COPEM wishes to modernize the fleet and its fishing practice. By designing a new type of vessel, admittedly different from the yawl but better suited to the new constraints of the trade. COPEM would like to see the vessel mass-produced in Martinique. This project will thus benefit the region as much as possible, and generate direct, indirect and induced local jobs in the shipbuilding industry and beyond.

Elcimaï Environnement has carried out economic modeling of the future ship’s operation over 3 years. Based on a documentary study (local fishing resources, state of the fishery, etc.), the costing of the new vessel following a public call for expressions of interest, the maintenance costs defined by the designer and local sales prices.
