FEASIBILITY STUDY FOR A FISHERIES SUPPORT PROJECT IN MALI

Pècherie-mali-Odyssée-développement (1)

L’Agence française de développement (AFD) is a public financial institution in charge of implementing France’s development policy. In Mali, AFD is pursuing its action in favor of development, including in the conflict-torn areas of the North and Center.

The direct beneficiaries of an initial AFD grant for Mali’s fisheries and aquaculture sub-sector will be fishing communities in the Mopti region. French Cooperation’s support, through AFD’s backing, will underpin the fisheries sector, which is likely to make a significant contribution to rural poverty reduction and the absorption of nutritional deficits through fishing and fish farming.

The objective of the feasibility study for the project to support the fisheries sector in Mali :

  • An analysis of the context, an inventory of the sub-sector and an assessment of needs with the presence in the Mopti region (Mali) of two experts from the group, one national expert and one sub-regional expert
  • Development of project options to support the fisheries sub-sector in Mali
  • Detailed project formalization for project start-up within the timeframe set by AFD.
