STUDY TO SET UP A DOMESTIC SERVICE – NEW CALEDONIA

OUR MISSION :

To adopt the best strategy for the development of maritime transport (passengers / freight / fuel), the Government wished to be accompanied in order to measure the needs and assess the feasibility of the operation by consulting users and maritime transport operators, as well as customary communities and authorities. These consultations made it possible to define one or more scenarios that will be the basis for invitations to tender with a view to delegating public maritime transport services.

The appraisal established a legal analysis of the different management methods for a public maritime service. This diagnostic work is then based on a socio-economic analysis and an analysis of maritime transport in New Caledonia through the existing offer. The study focused on analyzing segments of maritime transport activity, while conducting detailed analyses by geographical section for existing links declared to be in the public interest by operators, users and decision-makers met by the appraisal.
