UP building extension & R&D – SHISEIDO
project background :
Elcimaï recently completed two building extension and specific area development projects on behalf of Shiseido. A Japanese company specializing in the production of cosmetics and skincare products. Founded in 1872, it is one of the world’s oldest and most prestigious beauty brands.
A reference project for which Elcimaï acted as prime contractor.
PROJECT CHARACTERISTICS
Elcimaï was responsible for the 1,517 m2 UP building extension. The aim was torearrange the areas dedicated to perfumes and cosmetics. This extension made it possible tocentralize the site’s washing functions, the refitting of weighing boxes (Liquids, Powders, ATEX), climatic enclosures, an extension to the stock of flammable raw materials and Raw Materials being sprinkled was extended. A project to modify cold water production for the production units was integrated into this work. This project has made it possible to obtain energy saving credits(CEE) enabling SHISEIDO to finance part of its implementation. Studies have also been carried out, notably on the redevelopment of the changing rooms, as well as on the production of clean steam for sterilization of the manufacturing process.
The second project wasa 1,005 m2 R&D building extension. It enabledthe integration of new laboratories, storage areas for materials and ovens, fireproof rooms, pilot boxes (one of which is ATEX-rated),a lab laundry, new modern offices, an innovation room and an open space so that laboratory staff could group together. Studies have also been carried out on the utility modifications required to integrate new pilots.
In addition to these construction projects, Elcimai also worked on the exterior of the site. Shiseido wanted to expand its parking lot. As a result, we were able to put in 48 new spaces, including spaces for electric vehicles and PRMs. We also took part in the creation of a 150 m3 storm basin, the installation of an 80 m3 underground remote retention system for flammable products, the installation of a roadway for firefighters with parking areas and fire hydrants, the construction of a staircase and footbridge for access to the site, as well as the completion of clearing works and the creation of green spaces.
Project complies with regulations ICPE 1510 and ICPE 4330. ICPE 1510 designates facilities for the storage of combustible materials. As for ICPE 4330, it concerns facilities using flammable liquids.
Finally, Elcimai also took charge of all administrative aspects related to these projects, including obtaining building permits, carrying out environmental impact studies, wildlife management, as well as taking into account all regulatory constraints related to these projects.
